Prime Minister Hun Manet Launches Roadmap for Global Health Coverage in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, May 23, 2024 — Prime Minister Hun Manet officially announced the implementation of the Roadmap for Global Health Coverage in Cambodia for the period 2024-2035 in a ceremony held this morning.

The roadmap is part of Cambodia's commitment to the World Health Organization's (WHO) initiative to ensure equitable and quality health care services for all citizens, irrespective of their financial capabilities. This initiative aligns with the third Sustainable Development Goal, which aims to ensure good health and promote well-being for people of all ages.

To realize this ambition, the Royal Government of Cambodia has incorporated the health coverage strategy as a pivotal element in various national strategic documents and policies. These include the Rectangular Strategy Phase 4, the Pentagon Strategy Phase 1, the National Strategic Development Plan 2019-2023, the Health Strategic Plans spanning from 2008 to 2020, the National Social Protection Policy Framework 2016-2025, and the strategic framework to promote Cambodia's economic recovery and growth in the context of COVID-19 from 2021 to 2023.

The launch of this roadmap marks a significant step towards enhancing the national health infrastructure and ensuring that all Cambodians can access necessary health services without the burden of undue financial stress. It reflects Cambodia's proactive approach to addressing healthcare challenges and improving the overall quality of life for its population.
